We were employed as project managers for the refurbishment of a 15th century Grade II listed cottage, including external repairs and internal refurbishment.
The cottage, located within the grounds of Mote Park in Maidstone, was originally the park
keeper’s cottage and has since been divided into two. It is now a three-bedroom property
over two floors with an attic room. The cottage has been empty for a year and we were
commissioned to undertake the refurbishment in order to make it habitable again.
The previous tenant of the cottage had used modern materials such as plasterboard to carry
out repairs, so part of our refurbishment works is to undo these repairs and replace them
using traditional methods. We have, therefore, taken care to specify suitable materials to remain sympathetic with the listed status of the cottage. Our role has included gaining Listed
Building and Planning consent for the works, producing a specification, tendering the works and administering the contract.
The project is currently on site with a proposed completion date of July 2021.
