A pilot £50 million Government project to improve the energy efficiency of social housing has awarded £4.5m funding to a bid Baily Garner has been working on with a number of partner organisations.
Our existing homes are our biggest piece of national Infrastructure and one of the greatest challenges to meeting our Net Zero Carbon targets. A national strategy to retrofit our existing homes to improve their energy performance, increase the comfort of residents and reduce fuel costs is sorely needed. Whilst there are significant problems in the roll out of incentives to private owners to improve the energy performance of their own homes the social housing sector has an important role to play. Successful programmes of deep retrofit in the sector will help to build supply chain capacity, training and employment and importantly help to identify cost savings through practical lessons learnt in construction and processes.
We are very excited to be working on the successful Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund Demonstrator Fenland District Council bid with Clarion Housing Association and their partnering contractors, Engie and United Living. We are providing Project Management and PAS2035 Audit services. We are delighted to be able to share our practical learning and expertise from our previous award winning retrofit projects and some of current retrofit projects such as the Sutton Housing Partnership Energiesprong project which is currently on site.
We have been providing multi-disciplinary and collaborative professional services to retrofit existing homes since 1976 but we are always building upon our skills and capacity as demonstrated by our commitment to PAS2035 and providing retrofit coordinator services. Our Building Surveyors, Architects, Cost Consultants, Building Services Engineers, SAP Assessors and retrofit coordinators are able to provide a holistic review of stock portfolios and manage procurement and works delivery.
