Refurbishment of Lambert House formed part of the wider regeneration of Stockwell Park Estate in Brixton, South London. Baily Garner were appointed Architects, Building Surveyors, Employer's Agent, Quantity Surveyors and CDMC for refurbishment works to the 43 unit residential block.
Lambert House had a history of extensive building fabric failures, identified in our initial Building Condition and Feasibility Report. Key stakeholders worked collaboratively to present extensive, multi-phased resident consultations, identifying key issues and proposed remedies, whilst giving residents an opportunity to give feedback and opinions on proposed design options.
Refurbishment works to the 1970s mixed tenure block included new windows, doors, roofs, entrances and railings, together with extensive internal works, with a fresh palette of colours transforming the tired block into a place that residents are now proud of. The final scope of works gave consideration to the views expressed by residents within the limits of our Client’s budget. As a crime prevention measure, increased natural surveillance of the undercroft car park and pedways was achieved by replacing solid parapets and brick walls with open railings in a contemporary design.
