This 76 bed mental health inpatient hospital is the third successful PFI bid scheme delivered by Baily Garner LLP’s health care team for Grosvenor House Group. We have developed the design of the new facility working closely with the Trust's Clinical and FM teams.
The three mental health wards and 1 ALD ward link to a central elliptical ambulatory around a secure communal garden. Each ward pavilion is a ‘T’ shaped plan, providing shelter and privacy to secure ward gardens. They are designed around a central nurses base for observation and security, as well as therapeutic benefits, with all service users having single bedrooms and ensuite showers. Ligature resistant, robust design is utilised throughout, with roof space servicing completely independent of the ward spaces. The central entrance is a circular drum with a green roof and Glulam timber structure. The environment is enriched by art installations designed in collaboration with selected artists.
