Winner of the ‘Best Primary and Community Care Design’ at the Building Better Healthcare Awards 2007, this new build Community Hospital, approximately 12,000m² and built on a brownfield site, provides much improved facilities for the Town. The design enhanced the feel of a traditional hospital environment through the use of vibrant colours and large open areas. Our Client required the highest quality product, with an excellent energy efficiency rating.
The new hospital facility provides 90 rehabilitation beds, a diagnostics treatment centre, a minor injuries unit, a day treatment unit, two operating theatres and a 24hr emergency treatment centre offering a range of inpatient and outpatient services. The use of a weather tight rendered façade, with high thermal qualities on a lightweight steel frame, enabled the building to be constructed to a tight timescale. Baily Garner's attention to contractual detail allowed the project team to focus on high quality project delivery.
