Internal refurbishment of an existing classroom block to create six large classrooms meeting spacial guidelines, each with dedicated cloak storage, together with a breakout library space, small intervention room and a storeroom, including full replacement of the heating system to Block C.
A condition survey of the existing building identified under sized/under utilised areas and several building elements requiring replacement, including mechanical items such as boilers and fan convectors. Refurbishment options were determined at numerous design phase meetings and the scope of works revised to reflect funding available, which was secured in 2015. The project followed a tight construction programme, with the majority of works taking place over the summer holiday period.
The school were delighted with their new fit for purpose classrooms, creating greatly improved teaching facilities and learning spaces - the new vibrant library area proving to be particularly popular with both students and staff.
