Beacon Academy, formerly Beacon Community College, is located in Crowborough, East Sussex and accommodates around 1200 pupils in numerous blocks, varying in age and construction. Following a Condition Survey of the buildings Baily Garner were appointed to prepare a CIF bid for funding to replace existing single glazed crittall style windows and doors with high performance UPVC and powder coated aluminium units, successfully securing £480,000 for the works. We were subsequently appointed as Architects and Building Surveyors to design the works and as Contract Administrators and Cost Consultants for the delivery of the project.
Close liaison between the school, contractor and Baily Garner ensured the project was completed safely, on programme and within budget, utilising a detailed Phasing Plan to ensure the safety of the building users throughout the works. Our working relationship with Beacon Academy continues, as an additional £1.1 million of funding has been secured for further improvement works.
