Baily Garner assisted Seaford Head School with the preparation of a Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) bid, successfully securing £1.1 million funding for the replacement of flat roofs to the school, which is split over two sties. We were then appointed to prepare a full specification package for the works and subsequently to act as Contract Administrators for the scheme through to completion.
The school, accommodating around 1000 pupils, suffered areas of water ingress throughout the internal building fabric, together with damage to the internal facade, causing disruption to the school as key ancillary spaces, such as toilets, had to be closed. Once improvement works were complete the performance of the building dramatically improved, with further protection given to all internal elements of the buildings and roof renewal works, carrying a 20 year guarantee, reducing the school’s Co2 emissions and energy bills.
In liaison with the Health and Safety Advisor and the school, a risk register was implemented to monitor and mitigate any risks associated with works taking place during school hours which may have compromised the health and safety of students and staff. Commendations received by Seaford Head’s Business Manager included "“thank you.....for achieving the successful CIF bid outcome for 2016/17 for Seaford Head. For this to follow on from the successful £1.1m bid in 2015/16 is just tremendous”.
