Baily Garner were appointed to help secure ACMF funding for, and then design and implement as Architect and Building Surveyor, an upgrade to the plant room, heating system and fire alarm installation at Waynflete Infants' School. In an unusual situation the school shared an inefficient boiler facility with an adjacent building, it also had a range of different heating components added incrementally throughout the years, as well as an outdated fire alarm system in need of modernisation.
Baily Garner assisted with the submission of two separate funding applications to ACMF and, following success with both, the new plant room was designed as a feature, forming part of a new school entrance. The project was managed via a contractor’s proposal and progressed during term time by working around the school timetable, with the site remaining child friendly and safe at all times, particularly after the discovery of asbestos within buildings.
The completed project provided a fully efficient heating system with zonal control and louvred ventilation, plus a striking new curved entrance with improved and raised signage, replacing the original problematic concealed entrance to the school.
