Baily Garner were commissioned by Axis Europe to undertake design and consultancy services for this project, procured under a Design & Build Contract between the Metropolitan Police and Axis Europe Plc. Following refurbishment of redundant offices located on the ground floor of Marlowe House, our brief was to include for a fully padded dojo, bleep test track, area for cardio fitness equipment, changing rooms and showering facilities.
Once initial surveys were complete, as Lead Designer for the Contractor we undertook a series of design team meetings with specialist sub-contractors, the Employer’s Agent and our Client prior to the issue of Contractor’s Proposals and working drawings. Contractor’s Proposals, giving precise detailing for fixtures and fittings, partition types, floor details and colour choices, were approved by our Client and commended as exceptional by their Employer’s Agent. Design and technical advice continued during site visits, particularly in relation to potential problems with underground services and channels. Successful collaboration with Axis Europe, their mechanical and electrical engineers, structural engineers and the Metropolitan Police ensured delivery of a high quality, well designed facility for our Client.
