This complex and challenging project to remodel the Grade II Listed buildings that form Wembley Fire Station is part of our programme of works for London’s Fire Service. The original building was converted to office accommodation in the 1980s and the operational fire station was moved to the rear. The brief was to convert the buildings back to their original functions whilst the strategically important fire station remained on site and fully operational.
We produced a creative, innovative and energy efficient solution for the radical remodelling of the fire station complex. The design addressed the requirements of multiple stakeholders, including the Local Planners and Conservation Officers, whilst delivering contemporary, well-functioning accommodation to meet the needs of a modern fire service and enhancing the working environment for all users. The use of photovoltaic panels further add to the sustainability and future energy use efficiency of the building.
