Baily Garner were commissioned by Great Ormond Street Hospital Childrens’ Charity to undertake surveys and prepare costed Planned Maintenance Schedules for a 10 year programme for a number of properties located in the vicinity of Great Ormond Street Hospital, the majority being Grade II Listed and within the Bloomsbury Conservation Area. Planned Maintenance Schedules and Condition Reports were prepared for each individual building and covered years 1-5 separately, with the remaining 5 years covered in one schedule. The tenure and use of the properties covered a wide range including offices, short stay overnight accommodation for parents/patients, affordable short term accommodation for trainee nurses/doctors and a nursery school for staff. The sensitive nature of building occupants required our surveyors to be accompanied by GOSHCC keyholders and to have DBS checks and Chartered status.
Surveys commenced in August 2015, with a pilot report issued in early September 2015. The report format was to include our Client’s ‘Work Bank’, we reviewed and analysed the data requirement of this Excel spreadsheet for planned maintenance to ensure our reports complied with the brief. With the final report issued on time, GOSHCC expressed their delight with our 'no fuss' approach to the brief and the surveys, commenting on our dynamic, fresh approach to the survey process and data collection, utilising modern tools such as aerial platforms, aerial photographs and drones to fully assess external areas.
