Gresham House in New Malden, Surrey was one of three sheltered housing schemes deemed no longer fit for purpose and in desperate need of modernisation. Demolition and rebuilding on the sheltered housing site created 18 new extra care homes, including two 1 bed self contained wheelchair adapted units with ground floor level access, a fully adapted kitchen and wet room.
Existing residents were given the option to return to the new accommodation, built to meet the future needs of residents aged 55+ utilising the HAPPI aspirations. Gresham House residents enjoy their own private outdoor space with individual balconies, together with communal facilities including a lounge, kitchen, landscaped garden areas, car parking and mobility scooter storage. The development also provides assisted spa facilities and a cyber terminal giving internet access.
Baily Garner were Client's Representative, Cost Consultants, CDMC and BREEAM Assessors for this £2.75 million energy efficient development, producing low heating costs for the residents.
