This development was the final phase associated with the closure of the Orchard Hill Hospital Site in Carshalton. Situated in a conservation area, the development consists of 7 fully wheelchair accessible supported living flats for people with learning disabilities. The scheme provides generous circulation areas which break down the feeling of enclosed corridors and allows ease of circulation for multiple wheelchair users, as well as encouraging social points within the building.
The scheme features a biomass boiler installed to meet carbon reduction targets. Each ground floor flat has direct access out to the garden, which has been designed with raised planting beds and hard landscaping patios and paths bounded by extensive grass and planting, which lead to hard landscaping focal points within the garden to ensure the space is fully accessible to wheelchair users.
