40th Anniversary News and Fundraising

To celebrate our 40th Year in 2016 we ran a series of fundraising events for our chosen charity The Prince's Trust and, with this in mind, created a Just Giving page for anyone who wanted to support our efforts.

Our main event in April was a London to Birmingham Walk following the Grand Union Canal -  a total of 150 miles over 5 days!  Seven BG volunteers, along with six BG walkers taking part on various legs of the route, covered a total of 153.43 miles, taking 350,017 steps and completing over 53 hours of walking over 5 days, with a brilliant support team headed by Marie Carpenter. With feet covered in blister plasters and emotions switching from euphoria to utter relief, our BG walkers were given a fantasic welcome as they arrived at our Birmingham office after a punishing test of endurance resulting in aches, pains and mangled feet - most declaring "never again"! We would like to thank everyone who has donated on our Just Giving page in support their long and tiring journey!

Aside from our intrepid walkers, fund raising during our 40th year included pancake and cake sales, a sponsored silence for two of BG's chattiest ladies, a quiz night, charity football and golf, a Palace to Palace bike ride, sponsored assault course and monthly "Guess How Many" challenge - with our fundraising journey continuing throughout the year we raised a fantastic sum of £14,864 and would like to thank everyone who supported us!
